Does the 2016 Tacoma have a plug and play harness at the rear of the truck so all you have to do is plug in the adapter and then plug in the trailer lights or do you have to go thru the whole ordeal of installing the wiring kit?
If you don't have the factory tow package you can purchase a trailer wiring harness that is somewhat plug-n-play. I say somewhat because you will plug into both tail light connector plugs but have to run a hot wire to the battery for power. Check out etrailer.com and look up your specific model Tacoma. It would have been nice IMO, if Toyota would have added the plug-in already installed in the wiring harness at the rear bed for a quick and easy true plug-n-play install.
From the factory there is the ability to get a wiring harness that will plug into an existing opening and you're good to go. Some manufacturers have an additional tow/haul button that will need to be purchased, but those also are just plug-and-play and you're good to go right off the bat.
