Toyota 4Runner Power Running Boards?

Has anyone put the automatic power running boards on their 4Runner?

I am referring to the ones that lower and swing out when stopped and one of the doors is opened and they they retract and raise when riding.

I here these are a nice option, but I personally have not used them. To me, they are more for the ladies and not the gents.

My wife likes these boards. We have not bought them as of yet, but may be checking into them.

Automatic running boards have been around for years. Not sure if they're needed on a 4Runner unless you have a lift.

That link might not work. But if you search for Toyota you will see that they don't offer extending steps or running boards for the 4runner. That is, this company.

I've seen some videos online that show the power steps and power running boards working ... just not on a 4Runner. How odd is that?

WAIT A MINUTE .... is this a factory option for the 2014 4Runner?

Looks like it was a factory option as far back at least as 2012. ??? Maybe the factory option (I think there is a factory option, I'll check with Toyota on that) has killed the aftermarket on this?

What is the benefit of this running boards? Are they useful?
