Found this 4 year old unit on Facebook marketplace. Gave $325 for it, they're averaging around $750 new now. Unit has 1600 hours on it which I believe the woman who had it ran it for a construction project all at once due to an auto immune issue. If you average 12 hours per day at 5 days per week, that's about 6 months of use. 24x7 would be about 2.5 months of use. Then it just sat.

Came also with a pack of 10 new pre-filters. Not certain how long the HEPA filter has been used but it looks good and this unit will flash a light when the filler is 75% used, and the light is not on so we're good. At least 26% of HEPA life is left.

From what I've read anecdotally, these units should easily go over 10,000 hours on the electric motor, so we're not even at 20% of that.

The new HEPA filter runs $130 so hopefully we get another 1000 hours out of it before that happens. I'm hoping to really clean up the air in my house and garage so who knows, we have a different environment and purpose than the previous owner had.

Pullman Ermator Holt A600 Air Scrubber

A600 Air Scrubber
Constructed using a sturdy, compact cabinet, the Model A600 is a quiet operating air scrubber with two airflow speeds of 300 and 600 CFM. The airflow is directed upwards to avoid disturbing dust on surfaces. Each HEPA filter installed in the model A600 is individually tested and certified at an efficiency rate of 99.99% at .3 microns. A warning light indicates when the primary filter is 75% clogged and requires cleaning.

Nice unit! We could have used that in Death Valley. The evening we arrived--after the Titus Canyon drive--a big storm came in and the wind got up to 60-70+ MPH. YIKES! The power failed and didn't come back on for 4 days (we were long gone by then). But the DUST! OMG was there a massive amount of dust in the air and lots of it came into our room. We had planned 4 days in DV but left after 2 days.

So we left it running in the kitchen / great room for a couple hours on high and overnight on low in a different spot and I have to tell you that it really does smell cleaner and none of my kids were sniffing when they woke up. Really a good investment. Today we're going into each closet and letting it clean the air in there, then eventually each room in the house and then the garage
