How often do you change your air filter?

I change it with every oil change, which is about 5000 miles, but do you guys do it more/less often? What brand do you use?

Yearly. That's a bit more than 5000 miles here. I haven't had any problems because of that though.

Only annually? Do you think that has a negative effect on your gas mileage or does it not really matter?

Usually every 12k miles or so, but it really depends on the amount of dust, etc in the air. If you drive on dirt roads much, it should be changed more often. If the filter gets very restricted, then your mileage would drop. Most people (gearhead types anyway) don't let their filters go that long,
