Clutch Gone on 1987 Toyota pickup! looking for advice

Hello,

I recently purchased a 1987 Toyota Pickup (22r, 4cyl, 2d,manual, 4 gear carburetor)

After popping a few times, my clutch does not release from the the freewheel. I am no longer able to shift in or out of gear ( except power shifting...). I have checked the clutch bracket and found no cracks, same with the firewall. I have also replaced the master and slave cylinders and still no dice. Additionally, my shifter is extremely loose and my engine spits oil occasionally.

MY friend has an 82 Toyota diesel he is using for the engine. we were thinking of replacing my transmission with his.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Short of pulling thetrans out you wont be able to diagnose this one.
I suspect the clutch disc has probably galled on the splined input shaft.
Possible also that you might have split the throwout bearing/clutch carrier.
