a/t oil temp light

i have a 1989 toyota 4x4 pickup with a fuel injected 4 cyl motor and auto trans. the other day the automatic trans. oil temperature light came on and it won't go off. this happened after starting the truck after sitting for about 9 hours in the parking lot where i work, so i know the fluid couldn't have been hot. anyone else ever have this happen? if so, what is causing it. any help would be much appreciated.

Tom, I think the problem is with the electricals. You can have checked it out.
