Understood. I recently saw an identical truck (with more miles) go for close to $2k on eBay. Resale value is so much better than other nameplates. I'll keep you posted on progress, I'm hoping to have repairs completed on Mon. Have a great weekend- Tim
They weren't specific, but provided a diagnosis after test driving it. I suspect synchros. Now I'm leaning toward selling it shortly after the repairs- the shop said bearings are on their way out in the differential, and suggested replacing the clutch, too. It does have 170k miles on it, so I'm...
Thanks again. The trans lube hasn't been changed to my knowledge. After having it diagnosed by a transmission shop, I'm told that it needs a new transmission, to the tune of around $2000, which is out of the question. I've found a good working one that installed should be under $500. Fingers...
All of the sudden, the clutch pedal requires slightly more pressure- shifts fine into 1st, 2nd, & 5th gears respectively, but when in 3rd & 4th gear, the shift knob has to be held forcefully in place, otherwise the transmission slips out of gear & into neutral. Any comments appreciated...

Apparently they've given up on the idea of side-stepping the dealer, having tried & failed with other blanks a few times. My buddy figures the only key they have is a copy to begin with, and that's part of the problem. Will advise final results asap- thanks again!
Wow! Thanks again for your response! I bought the key for friends in Alaska (I'm in Washington state) & figured there's a procedure to follow. I'm sure they have the master still- it's the only key they have, hence the urgency- they've locked themselves out of the running car accidentally twice...
Follow up: As it turns out, I believe the source of the leak to be the driver's door jamb, which was clogged with dirt & debris. I suspected the seal at the window behind the driver to be a possible source, but that turned out to not be the case. Neither did I have any evidence of water running...
Follow up/ Removing cowl at base of windshield
Thanks for the suggestion. I recently renewed/revived the door seals with Isopropyl Alcohol then Armor All. There doesn't seem to be any moisture on the driver's door seal at all. If/when we get a dry weather day I'll revisit. There is a lot of...
I live in Washington state, which is to say my name may as well be Nemo, & a rain leak is a big problem. And the organizer was a gift/accessory the previous owner fashioned- there's not an abundance of storage space in this cab.
Thanks very much for your responses. I'll give these suggestions a try & report back- I'm disabled, so hope I can get to the top of the firewall without too much contorting. I'm still not sure how to remove the cowl at the base of the windshield?
Thank you for your response. There is no rust, corrosion, mold or mildew- yet. It's hard to say the volume of water, but my guess is roughly one quart- the water is limited to the floor pan carpet and has wicked up toward the firewall, but is collected just behind the rubber mat affixed to the...
Great little truck, just under 30mpg highway
But rain water is pooling in the cab at driver's feet, carpet is soaked. I've carefully checked the windshield seal and it looks intact/good. The passenger side floor pan is dry, and there's no body rust invasion. I assume the rain leak is coming...
