Startup Problem on Toyota Tundra

Hello everyone my dad is having trouble sometimes staring up his truck it won't start when the temperature inside and outside is hot, it happens around once a month, the key turns but it just clicks and not as if theres no battery but as if there's no fuel(even though the tank if full), he has to turn it again a couple of times for it to work, does anyone have any ideas on what might cause this, He currently lives in Miami, Florida and it usually happens around the summer season. It is a Tundra 2006 4.7 engine, thank you all so much much for your help.

Has he gotten it in to a shop with a computer to find out what's up with it? Did he get this fixed? There are a ton of different things this could be.

Yeah, it's tough to figure out where the problem is without a reader. The diagnostics on the Tundras are state-of-the-art, really pretty amazing how easy it is to pinpoint a problem using them. Could be a fuel issue, could be a problem with a sensor, etc.
