I have a 1989 Toyota Pickup with the 22R engine and 4 speed manual transmission.
Until recently the movement of the shift lever always felt very positive, somewhat longer than presently and like there was no tendency to jump out of gear.
Now the movement of the gear shift lever seams somewhat shorter (like, "is it going into gear????) and like I have to keep my hand on it to keep it from jumping out of gear. It has jumped out of gear on occasion.
Still quite drivable, not a lot of jumping out of gear, but definitely something different is going on in that 4-speed box.
If I do need tranny work, what else would be good to do at the time the transmission is out of the truck???
Comments, opinions, please.
