Just a quote for the whole job. 265,000 miles. Everything else on the truck is great. I just don't want to spend the time and effort of doing a head job. I've done three on various vehicles including an MR2 and I'm over it.
I was quoted $2K for the work from several shops because the said they really did not want to accept the job. The potential buyer's brother is a mechanic who claims he can fix anything. A gasket kit is $400-$500, another $100 or so for new head bolts, probably $120 for machining, magnaflux, etc...
Hi everyone,
The sad day has finally come where I need to sell my 1996 T-100 SR5. I am trying to determine its value. Kelly Bluebook comes in at just under $3500 for "good" condition, milage consideration, and all the features. It runs, but it has a head gasket problem in two places: It leaks...
The bulbs are standard clear which can be obtained at any automotive parts store. There are thin rubber caps that give them their color which can be found online. Make sure you get the right size for your bulb. I was going to do the exact same thing with blue, but then my head gasket blew and I...
Everything is all better! Once I finally pulled off all the exterior trim and unbolted the instrument cluster, including the steering wheel and the (for lack of a better term) steering shaft cover, I was able to manipulate the instrument cluster. I pulled it out slightly, angled it inward on the...
Well, I was finally able to get that instrument cluster out. There are four wire harness clips attached to the back, as well as the speedometer cable. The harnesses are similar to all the other plastic electrical clips other than they are wider and a little easier to disconnect. They are...
The four screws are out. It feels as though there is a cable or something attached from behind. I can't get my big hands back there to feel around. Kind of weird driving around with a dismantled dashboard.
Here's the sticker I was mentioning. I just haven't remembered to take a photo! Also, upon deeper investigation, O'reily Auto Parts DOES have the dual electrode spark plugs. I'm going with those!
Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some advice on the removal of my T100 instrument cluster. I need to replace one of the bulbs, and will probably replace them all since it is such a pain to access them. I have followed my Haynes manual instructions, but for some reason I can not get the...
Hi,
I just joined the site a few weeks ago and am looking forward to leaning and sharing info with other T100 owners. My truck has a lot of deferred maintenance, and I am in the process of taking care of things that should have been done long ago. I have a 1996 4 x 2 Xtra cab 3.4 liter 5-speed...

What is your opinion or experience with spark plugs? Specifically, on the engine there is a decal that says only dual electrode spark plugs should be used. When I check with parts stores such as O'reily, Autozone, etc., they only have single electrode spark plugs available. The thought of going...
