Hey everyone,

We have a wide variety of differnt types of folks on this board. I think it might be nice for everyone to let everyone know what they do for a living.

Me: I work for a software company doing marketing and communications. I run this board on the side.

Who's next?

I'm a traveling salesman, I'm on the road 1/2 the week all around the Southwest. New Mexico (base), Arizona and West Texas.

I work for the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation. I'm planning to retire at 55 in 3 years 8 months. I do freelance writing and mush dogs on the side.

Wow, that's quite a different set of jobs. Do you swing a hammer or just own the company?

I own and manage the company, and limit my hammer swinging as much as possible - I love the work but simply do not have the time. I leave most of the work to my guys or subcontractors, the experts. We are also pretty small, only a couple homes a year. I greatly enjoy both occupations, and the requirements are not as dissimiliar as you would think.

Well, there are technical people, managers and entrapenaurs (sp?) that make a company go. It's hard to manage and run a company when you also do the work.

I'm a reset specialist, my wife is my assistant on most of my projects, we work mainly in Lowes, but do projects in other chains, we sometimes work for 3 different companies so we can get busy, lately with the economy a mess we've been slow, for us things are picking up so we'll be busy.

Retired!!!

Looks like I am the only person retired. I retired at age 58 from managing the physical plant operation in a school district for over thirty years. My background is architectural planning and I have spent the last 8 years consulting with government. I am now fully retired and love traveling as well as pursuing my hobby of bird carving.
