TOYOTA TUNDRA ANNUAL SALES
2020_Toyota_Tundra_TRD_Pro_Army_Green_03.jpg

So it looks like the much-awaited next generation for the Toyota Tundra can not come soon enough. Some of the drop of course is the increased sales for the Tacoma, but this is a VERY long overdue generation.

Not sure when I can remember a pickup truck going this many years. True, while the 2nd generation Tundra was refreshed in 2014 and there have been more trim level updates than you can shake a stick at ... the overall engineering of the platform comes from 2007.

That's a LONG LONG time ago in the truck world.

No surprise. In fact, I wonder if the numbers justify another gen or not. Toyota has NOT kept the Tundra up-to-date, and the sales numbers reflect that. Push-button start isn't going to make the 2020 numbers any better.

Considering the average sales price for a new Tundra is very likely at least $42,000 (that's a rough guess) ... that's nearly $5 BILLION in revenue from North American sales for the Toyota Tundra each year, all for a platform who's R&D was done before the year 2007! That's impressive.

As we talked about before on the site, the next generation for both the Tacoma and the Tundra will share the same platform! That's pretty cool to think about and it might mean they get new generations around the same time, so they'll keep putting money into the Tacoma so the Tundra will get a new generation just because.
