ny as many of yall know, my dailey driver is a 97 Silverado 3 door extended cab in near show room condition. My wife drives the 2004 4 Runner, and my son has a 2010 Tacoma base modle. I have been working my a$$ off this labor day weekend. Got my 95-98 Tahoe bucket seats installed. Had to move my amp next to my sub. It wouldnt fit under the Tahoe power drivers seat. I went to pull a part today and got a center console out of a 2007 Tahoe. I got it installed when I got back home. I did have to repaint the console first. So the next thing will be a forward console with a floor shifter that will but up to the Tahoe console I just installed.

Well I have been working on my console all weekend. I got the Chevelle shifter installed. It still may need a little tweaking, but its close to finish. And yes those are LED bowties at the bottom, as courtesy lights that come on, and go off with the dome lights .

I finally finished my console, shifter indicator frame, and marker plate install. Also the SILVERADO insert for the backside of the console. It lights up as a courtesy light as does the little Chevy bowties. The shift indicator lights up with the running lights.

Nice job. I'v got a 98 GMC Sierra 4x4, do you have more leg room than stock? Did you have to build a base for the seat?
Yes, there is more leg room than the 60-40 seat. The power seat, gives you a lot more adjustment. The passengers side, has the same base as the 40 split seat. I used my OE 40 seat base on the passengers side, and swapped out the top so that the top would have the arm rest, but I can still slide the seat forword to allow access to the rear seat. The drivers side, being power, gives much more leg room. It was plug and play. I could not believe how easy the seat swap was. The only thing that was power before on the drivers side, was power lumbar support. Also there was a bolt on the floor of my truck, that lined up with the rear bolt hole next to the trans tunnel. As for the front hole, I just left that bolt out. It would have been easy enough to drill a hole in the floor there, but the drivers seat is secure so I didnt worry about it. The bucket seats came out of a 95 Tahoe or Suburban I think. I found paper work in the passengers seat that was dated 1995. No need for any special brackets, ect. It was a direct bolt in. These seats are hard to find though. I got lucky at the swap meet to find a set there. I was going to have my original seats recovered, but the fabric is glued to the foam on these seats. I couldnt find anybody in my area that would do the job. Leather, yes, all day long, fabric no way. The leather is not glued to the foam like the fabric is.

Oh, also the console, is out of a 2004 Tahoe, and I could have used the whole console, but I didnt want it to crawl up into the dash, like those consoles are built. So that is why I fabbed up my own design with the floor shifter. The OE console for the GM trucks from 95 to 98, I dont care for. The 2004 console looks a lot better IMO.

Yea, I like the buckets, mine is a manual w/ granny but the seats are toast (drivers side) from some fatass sitting on them. I bought the truck new, lol. Only had to replace the clutch plate and it runs like a top, uses no oil and still gets 16-18 mpg, it's a 2500HD single cab. Pulls my track hoe around great, I'll check the salvage yards, thanks for the info. (in my spare time..... :)

If your interested there is a forum just for those trucks. Its www.gmt400.com. its very active, and just for GM trucks, tahoes and suburbans from 1988 to 1998 body style. This also includes up to 2000 or so in the 2500, 3500, tahoe, and burb. Any and all GM trucks of that body style. Tons of info there on those trucks.

My 97 Silverado 3 door ext cab, has 253,000+ miles. Original engine (5.7L) original 4L60E trans. I have replaced the bearings in the rear end but the 342 gears, and chunk are original. They are grate trucks, maybe the best GM ever built, or ever will. Like you, mine uses no oil, but I know I will need a transmission rebuild in the near future. All is good for now, but I know its coming. I have done about 40 mods to the truck, and my HP is around 325. I bought it used in 2002 with 85,000 miles. I have no plans to get ride of it. Here is the most recent pic of it. I took it at work last month.
