My wife said the other night, that we should look for a camper top for my sons 2010 Tacoma that He got a few months ago, after He totaled His 2008 Ram. After we talked, and agreed that we would give Him a camper top for Christmas and His birthday. It hit me the next day, that my neighbor tried to give me a camper top, several years ago. I didnt want it, not to mention that it is for a small truck, and I have a 97 Silverado that is in show room condition. Well I crossed over and asked my neighbor if he still had the camper top. He said yes, and if you want it, its yours. We have been working on it for several days. It had been sitting on the ground for several years. We now have the windows out, and will paint it white, and the window frames black, to simi match my sons truck. I had to remake the latch hardware, and the glass between the cab, and camper was broken, so I cut some lexan we had at work to replace the window. The camper will look new once we are done.

My wife has been working on this thing for a few weeks now. Last night, when I got home from work, She was feed up, fooling with the thing. She tried to paint it white 3 times. She gave up, and started painting it black. Well the Tacoma is white, but She got pisse and gave up on the white. She pissed me off yesterday, so I grabbed the camper top, and drug it in the back yard. I took all the rattle cans of black She bought, and painted the thing. This morning when I got up, I didnt like the black at all. She was still asleep, so I went to walmart, and bought 8 cans of gloss white, and several packs of sand paper. I wet sanded it down enough to repaint it white. The weather got rite at about 11:00 AM, so I started. I just finished at about 5:30, but its white now, and looks good. With the black trim, on the bottom, and around the windows, it will look good once its done. All of the window frames are repainted black, and almost ready to go back in. Hopefully, we can install it on my Sons truck, maybe next weekend. More pics to come.

Well we finally got the camper top installed. I built the clamps at work, and well whatever other hardware needed to be replaced.

You are a great father and an equally great craftsmen.
Thank you. My son is very happy, but I have to give my wife a lot of credit. She did all of the hard work. She removed all of the windows, stripped off all of the clear coat, sanded the camper top down to the primer, and repainted the all of the window frames. I just rebuilt the broken hard ware, built the clamps to hold the camper to the truck, and painted the camper it self. So, ok, I guess it was a Mom, and Dad team effort. The things we do for our kids, no matter how old they get.
