I bought the Pop & Lock PL8521 Power Tailgate Lock for my 2012 DBL Cab 4x4; I am completely happy with it.
The included instructions are ok.... you will have better luck and find a ton of info if you search the forums on how/where to wire it in.
I had considered their newer "BOLT" lock tailgate handle ( I have the original Pop & Lock keyed attachment on my 2005) which uses the Toyota ignition key (one less key to lose), but after reading many reviews stating that the Pop& Lock handle seemed thin and flimsy.... I went with the power tailgate lock and keeping my factory Tailgate handle.
I wired it in so that it unlocks only with the passenger doors (two clicks on the remote). You can check out my installation write-up here.
If I had to do it over again, I would do the same and go with the power tailgate lock over a keyed version.
