Its always most profitable when you can pay cash. When buying a used vehicle you can always make your best deal if you are ready to buy as soon as you look the vehicle over, and test drive it. And always offer less than the asking price. That being said, ask for a car fax report, and check over the mechanical and electrical systems of the vehicle your looking at. And NEVER buy one you cant test drive. If you can not pay cash for your new vehicle, and need financing, if the seller knows that you are ready to but today, then you still have a lot of bargaining power.

RAV4's are reliable cars. My wife's RAV is going on 6 years old - no issues to date. Check it over good as kenny said and ask about previous maintenance records. Check fluids and under carriage thoroughly. Best of luck.

There is a Technical Bulletin for your RAV4, T-SB-0107-19 titled "Hesitation On Acceleration from a Slow or Rolling Stop" . You can go to Toyota and ask them to reprogram the car for free.
You can read more about it and other issues relating to your model on Car Complaint. Good luck.
