high rpm on highway

Need help, can anybody tell me why my 94 toyota pickup sr5 4x4 tacks at 3000 rpms at 70 miles an hour on interstate.. Any suggestions...

modern fuel injected engines aren't as influenced by higher rpm's as their older carbuerated ancestors. Especially a 4 cylinder. 3000 rpm is likely close to the peak volumetric efficiency of the engine.

Did you get this worked out? It's a '94 Toyota Truck so it's a bit out of what I'm used to these days, but someone might be able to jump in.

Yeah, seems like the OP shouldn't be worried about this. Could always install larger tires I suppose though.

See the above quote, it isn't really that surprising that a '94 SR5 would run at 3K rpm on the highway at 70.

I don't really think bigger tires will solve the problem. Maybe some tweaks with the engine will do.
