96 t100 4wd. 4wd indicator light will not light up. bulb is good, checked the actuator up front, it is working. i'm thinking the sensor may be bad. checking the wires leading to the sensor, both are reading 12 volts. this does not sound right.s should both wires be reading 12 volts?

also as an unrelated problem (i hope) i'm having issues with the oil gauge. i have replaced the sending unit, checked the gauge by grounding it. (it works like it should) put an external ground on the sensor housing, and checked the pressure with a mechanical gauge. (it is reading 7 pounds). the gauge still does not work. however, it is a little more strange than that when starting up the oil light (idiot light), lights up and flickers for about 30 seconds.

i don't understand the need for the idiot light if i have a gauge in the cluster, and why does it seem to be working?

lastly, i recently installed hid headlights and my high beam indicator stopped working. (light bulb is good and no fuses blown). i think i may have found a solution for this however, http://www.ebay.com/itm/290589078847....l2649&afsrc=1
would still like an opinion on that. any help would be appreciated.

none of these issues are hindering the performance of the truck, just some things i would like to get ironed out.

Hey dean,

I'm sorry, have a terrible headache right now and only skimmed your post. Your question is about the 4wd not functioning or just the 4wd light not illuminating?

Sounds like you have a general set of electrical gremlins. Did they start up around the same time?

You said that the bulb is good, but did you check to make certain that it's getting power and there's no corrosion to that bulb.

take a look here and see if you can find the part as there's a 80% chance that you'll find an exploded view of the electrical system and it will tie together the parts in the chain that will help you to figure out if you missed something.
