Alarm problems, Again

April 26 2019 I posted about my alarm going off in the middle of the night. After that I removed the horn fuse. Recently I noticed the turn signals and hazards did not work. Checking the wiring I saw that the horn fuse is in the mix. Reinstalled the horn fuse and turn signals work. Been driving without turn signals for a year ! Not a big deal in Central NC, many do not use them. But I am back to my original problem. Unplug the horn or ????????????????? Jay

Wow, welcome back to the site. You didn't realize the turn signals weren't working?

Do you have any indications of a short in your system? When does the alarm go off, how often and under what circumstances?

Also, what year of truck? and can you give details on the alarm again, or link to your original thread?

I grew up in Pennsylvania where turn signals were required for even lane changes. Been in NC for 30 years and guess I did not notice they were missing till I tried 4 way flashers on the side of the road. Really strange I did not notice but I am retired and do not drive much. How's that for an excuse !! The truck only went 243 miles between yearly inspections recently. Alarm has gone off at night. My neighbor (daughter) heard it but not me. The truck is a 2000 SR5 loaded stepside with no mods. I have done almost all of the work except transmission replacement, too hard for my old back. The alarm is original factory system. I would like to remove/disconnect the system. It is a 20 year old and not very valuable vehicle. .......Thank You all for the help.......................Jay

So I wonder if it's going off all the time or it that was just a one time or a once-in-a-while event.

I'll have to look at the schematics for the truck to see how it's setup for a factory alarm. Does it come with any aftermarket alarm key fob?

So far it is just one time. Been looking at wiring diagrams and have not found it. It does use the factory key fob...........Thanks.................Jay

I'm wondering if you had a battery issue, did you happen to change the battery (or even just disconnect it) in the day or two before this happened? Did the battery fail around this time? Just curious.

No battery problems at that time. I have replaced the alternator and battery since then. Just don't understand how the horn fuse should be affecting the turn signals. Check the attachment. Kinda weird but I am not an auto electric specialist. Thanks........Jay

The alarm has been fine for several days. So until it happens again I will call it OK. One thing I did was bend the hood alarm switch down so it won't go off if a cat jumps off the roof onto the hood. That might have been the original problem, Thank you all for the help.............Jay
