So I hear that the single-row timing chain on the 22R engines after 1982 or so wear out every 60,000 miles. I was wondering if anyone has had to replace theirs? If so, how did you do it?
I don't really know much about long it will last. But I have mine replaced, by a mechanic. I brought it to a shop, they troubleshoot and found the problem is with the chains. So we have to change it.
I don't think it has something to do with the mileage. Wearing out of chains has something to do more with the way you drive. How overused your truck, and how you maintain it.
