07 Tacoma Losing Power

Hello, Please help I,m losing revs/power when truck is moving and the check engine light comes on. It seems to not be firing it will still go but has no power. My mechanic thinks it's a computer problem?? Has anyone had the same problems or can steer me in the right direction. Do I have to get this to the the dealership to fix??

If the check engine light is on there should be some codes stored. Start there and that should point you in the right direction.
