I'm thrilled with my wood shelves, total cost was about $75 and most of the time was me having to clean up before I could start working. Very happy with my new garage.
This was a fun and rewarding project, I really needed extra space and a better way to oragnize tools, paints, small bits, fishing equipment, etc. Next I'll do the other side with a narrower footprint and a focus on food stuffs and sports equipment storage.
This was about a $80 total project and only took maybe 5 total hours for what you see here and that includes me loading up the shelves with stuff. I do believe that I will build one shelf on the left side only that's 5' wide and will sit very low to the floor.
Turns out I needed to store my wood stock, for now I'm putting it on my homemade 3-level stand and I slid it underneath. However, I need a place for my miter saw, so I'm removing that lower extended shelf.
My youngest son actually came out and really helped me. He helped put down clamps, swept up, but he liked using the shop vac to clean up the sawdust more than anything. I've got a future crafter and creator here it looks like!
No tablesaw to cut this, my circular saw really binded up a lot because I had to lift up off the floor to cutting up higher to save my back. However, after a few cuts and then re-cuts I was able to get straight lines. NOTE: 1x4 will BEND with pressure, so no straight lines
This is the before. I took town some wire "closetmade" thin wire shelves up top and patched. I've got about 18-inches of clearance for the garage doors as well.
