Mine is the second generation factory spoiler, as in the top photo.
An air dam is the aero device under the front bumper that is designed to help air move around the vehicle instead of under it. Air moving under the car is turbulent and creates drag. A splitter (a horizontal flat plane at the...
Toyota Girl is basically correct except you don't want to lock the center diff in rain - even heavy rain. 4wd without locking the center diff will probably work just fine for 99% of the time that you need 4wd.
I had a 2005 4wd and if I remember correctly, here's what to use, and when.
1. 2wd is strictly rear wheel drive. Some of the 4wd parts are spinning (halfshafts, etc) but are "freewheeling" - that is no engine torque is sent to the front. Use this anytime. Fuel mileage is best in this mode, if...
Toyotafan is probably correct. Most manufacturers know it's easier/cost effective to build them all the same. Plus, dealers probably don't want to measure and drill holes. They'd rather bolt them on. I'm reluctant to bet my morning Krispy Kreme but I would in this case.
Still not sure. I checked the rear fender liners and they're secure. I went through my regular touchless car wash last night and as the blower passed over the top/rear, I heard the flapping sound. I still think it's the spoiler at the top of the rear hatch door. More investigating to do...

Could be. I call them "fender liners" per my post but we're talking about the same thing. These could be the source of the noise but the sound is a little heavier than thin plastic.
We have snow tonight so I drove a 4wd service vehicle home from the office but I'll check them in the morning...
I searched before posting this but got no results.
I bought my 2010 Sequoia Platinum 2wd about three months ago to replace my '05 Sequoia SR5 and while I am very pleased overall, I hear a flapping/popping sound when I drive at 75 mph or higher. During the test drive, I only did about 70 and...
