    just sharing my $600 yota

time stamp on the camera isnt set. pics taken today. Not willing to put $1000 into it. Plan on fixing the exhaust and then driving it as is. Only intend to keep until feb of next year. Then I should have enough money to buy a newer toyota truck in roadworthy shape. But this truck is my 1st...

    Branch Went Through My Truck

well in this case I was trail driving...so I wasnt going more than 2-3mph! But I did have a 4x5 inch hole (patched now) just behind the front wheel....in back of where the clutch pedal is. So a stick could have come threw there pretty easy.

    why are trucks so big???

I feel there are certainly places for the big, comfortable and well equiped trucks. I drive hardly more than 3 miles per day...so comfort and gadgets matter little to me. The problem I have is that the companies seem to forget that there are those of us who want a bare bones truck. My dad has...

    why are trucks so big???

Baseline... thats a good word for what is needed in the market. The other issue with many trucks as well as cars is that they got FAT. Heavy bodies means you NEED a better engine to get the power and fuel milage expected these days. The toyota is pretty small/light. You wont find a thinner...

    just sharing my $600 yota

agreed, and dispite the needed repairs it runs well. goes straight down the road, isnt hard to drive (shifts well) 4wd works great. Even tho the front shocks leaked they work OK, not to rough a ride. Engine doesnt sound great due to exhaust leaks but with the exception of the desiling when...

    why are trucks so big???

Im sure others here will agree, car makers today dont make any good small trucks....or any small trucks really. Look at the current small pickups, the chevy, the ranger and dakota. They are all pretty big trucks, at least compared to out toyotas or the old nissan hardbody or even the older...

'87 22r wants to stay running when you shut off ignition

I believe dieseling would be the correct term for what it is doing. I assume these have timing chains? when it does this it does run rough...not normal running as tho the ignition switch was bad. unrelated question...can you advance the ignition timing on these? Did that once on a 89 honda...

    Branch Went Through My Truck

what made that day even better was that my friend had is 2002 dodge ram 1500 4wd $8000 truck and tried to go on the same skidder trails as I was taking the toyota on. He only made it a few hundred feet in before his truck hit a rock hard and loosened some electrical connection that controlled...

    Branch Went Through My Truck

I was offroading and had a tree branch (over 2'' thick) go over the front wheel....threw the inner fender...over the exhaust header....under the floor...over the trans case and come out the other side. Somehow it missed every wire/linkage and anything else it could have damaged. But man, it...

'87 22r wants to stay running when you shut off ignition

well Ive had lots of cars but this is my 1st yota truck. I have a '87 22r 4wd. Its a pretty rough truck really, but does start/run goes down the road. One issue that I dont know how to fix is that it wants to keep running after you shut off the ignition. Problem is more likely after its been...
