So, how is the original 4Runner motor? Is it better than say the Tacoma, Tundra, or other truck engines?

I think automatics are easier to drive. However, manual transmission vehicles seem to be easier to accelerate at a faster rate.

Some redesigns were great. However, others were just a total flop. I think that's how it is with most kinds of vehicles.

I suppose. :) It might just be a good hobby trying to ad your own enhancements or to fix your truck yourself.

I would say maybe a few inches wider is okay. The thickness of a tire probably also makes a difference.

Have you had any luck finding what you are looking for? I always use the Big G to find some I'm looking for online. Did you try eBay Motors by chance? Or is there some places on this Toyota Truck Club.com site that would be sufficient?

I was looking for info on clutch problems with new trucks, say ones that have been made in the past five years or so?

I wouldn't have a clue. I'm assuming for a truck that old yes the junkyard would be the best place, or maybe eBay but you probably would get a better deal at a junkyard. This thread is a ways old though. How did your replacement project pan out?

I'm glad the snowy days are over for me. Anyway, this thread piqued my interest. I wonder what would happen if I tried to top off the brake fluid and it still didn't solve the problem?

Topping off the brake fluid wouldn't have been my first guess. It's a good thing people who are mechanically inclined than I am are on this forum.

I don't know what happened to the Tacoma Exhaust thread. I have two more pics to share with you just for fun. I don't know what kind of exhaust system I'd want but I'm dreaming and shopping...

An 88 pickup eh? That's got some years on it. How successful have you been at this body pickup project? I'm just curious, just in case.
