So our bed frame broke, the kids were jumping up and down on it and looks like all that weight caused a fault in the wood to snap. Ended up adding a 2x3 to each bed rail and it doesn't look pretty on the outside, I can fill that in with some wood putty I suppose and make it look decent. The bed is rock solid now and we sit up about 2.5-inches higher, which is pretty nice.
oh, and I put in 4 screws from the bottom to try to pull together the broken two pieces ... but my cordless drill was dying on me, so I could only get them "so-so" tight.
