So, it just hit me. I was out at the park with my boys last night and it started to get dark BEFORE 8 pm and the sun didn't rise today until AFTER 7 am.

I guess it hit me in my mid-20's that in North America we have May-June-July with about the same amount of sunlight each day (roughly 14 hours per day). Then it drops on a slide towards mid Nov-Dec-Jan with more darkness (10 hours or so per day).

Sun is important, winter is depressing and if they're weren't holidays during that time I'd create them.

However, I read that the us navy did a huge study on skin cancer and those that got artificial light and worked indoors more had higher rates of melanoma. Crazy to think about it but our bodies developed outside and sunlight is natural to us.

I have noticed also that it is not light when I get up in the mornings. Then it's getting darker earlier - before long it will be fall then winter again.
