I discovered that my Sunpass transponder works fine in the forward overhead cubby. Keeps out of my (and thieves) eyesight and less clutter on the windshield.

The slim portable one can easily installed and placed behind rearview mirror.

I have the mirror raised so the area behind it is the black dotted area and adhesion is iffy. I also have the older large portable since I also used it on my dear departed Harley. Another problem I noticed over time. These seems to be a clear film on the inside of the windshield, perhaps the anti UV coating, that was getting damaged by the suction cups.

I see, overhead cabby seems the best place then. That must be poor windshield film, good ones should not damaged by any sticker or adhesive cups.

I agree but it did happen. There are rings that won't come off and if you scrub too aggressively the coating scratches.
