Off road in the Tacoma?

Is the Toyota Tacoma designed as an off road vehicle? I know the SUVs are more designed with this in mind. I don't do much off road, but am curious to know. I know they have the "look" of being an off road vehicle, but I do not see too many of them in my area for this purpose.

The Toyota Tacoma is great for driving around Texas. I drove a buddy of mines and it was a lot of fun. I hope to purchase a 2014 Tacoma soon.
