Wow. They may have found that Malaysian airliner Boeing 777 washed up near Madagascar. Madagascar? That's a long ways away from where they thought that it crashed.

I heard on the news that more than just plausible that it's wreckage from that airline crash and that the debris that came ashore would be within the water currents path for that location based upon where they think the plane went down.

Still very sad, sucks for the people on board and for their families.

MH370: Boeing officials think Reunion debris could be from 777, source says

(CNN)Debris found in the western Indian Ocean on Wednesday appears to be part of a Boeing 777, the same model as Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 that disappeared in 2014, according to a source close to the investigation.

The source said there is a unique element to the Boeing 777's flaperon, a wing component, that Boeing observers believe they are seeing in photos.

The debris was found Wednesday off the coast of Reunion Island, a French department in the western Indian Ocean. It is being examined to determine whether it is connected to flight MH370, a member of the French air force in Reunion said Wednesday.

The debris was found off the coast of St. Andre, a community on the island, according to Adjutant Christian Retournat.

Boeing officials conducted an initial assessment of the debris using photographs. The source stressed the observations are preliminary.

I just made a video about Reunion Island, where these pieces of debris washed up, from Google earth, thought some people might like to see it. What a gorgeous island! Getting there looks very remote, probably have to get to madagascar and then take a float plane out there, it's nearly 400 nautical miles from the eastern shore of Madagascar, so a boat is possible but would take a long time.
