Automatic Transmission Hilux (sixth gen) transmission/power issue

Hello,

I have a 1998 sixth generation Hilux with automatic transmission which is giving me problems. The main issue is, that while driving the van starts loosing power. When this happens, pressing the accelerator further causes the revs to go up but the power does not increase. If the van is driven further in this condition, after a while, pressing the accelerator causes the revs to increase but the van does not move. It is as if the van is put in neutral while the accelerator is being pressed. Changing the transmission from drive to neutral and back to drive does not fix the issue. However, if the van is turned off, and turned on again, the issue goes away and the van starts working fine again. So currently the only way i can use the van is to constantly turn it on and off again when the issue happens. It seems like the issue is becoming more frequent with the van loosing power every few minutes.

I have checked the ATF fluid level and this is fine.

Anyone know what might be causing the issue?

Thanks in advance for your help.

It could be a couple different things,
Belts in the trans slipping.
Variable vains not operating correctly.
Trans fluid pump not producing enough pressure.
Torque converter going out.
Probably step 1 would be change the filter.
Then check line pressures.
