Anyone out there that can direct me? I have a 1998 4-runner. When I have the headlights on they cut off
when the turn signals are turned on. Is this a "switch"? Is this costly and something I can repair myself?

The turn signals and headlamp/parking lamp switches are all in one on the stalk. Chances are that a wire has been rubbed inside the column and is shorting or breaking when both are on. I would suggest getting a used one from a salvage yard. Should easily be under $20. As for install or replacement. it's not that big of deal. You can buy a manual at the parts store for your 4 runner if you need step by steps. Or, http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...g/assembly.pdf follow those instructions to the point you remove the steering wheel.. THEN.. scroll to page 5 here: http://www.ncttora.com/fsm/1990-1995...e/headligh.pdf
