Differential question
so my buddy has a 95 t100 4x4. he went offroading and clogged his breather and blew his pinion seal. he drove empty for about 300 miles. about 2 days later he brought it to me. i cleaned out the breather and replaced the seal for him. during the replacement i had to remove the axle and the bolt in the center of the differential. i was told that they had a specific preload so i need to count how many turns it takes to remove it and put it back in the exact spot. so i did. afterwards it drive fine and the pinion seal dose not leak anymore but now there is a howling when i am in gear decelerating. if i accelerate it goes away until i decelerate again.
anyone have any advice?
