When did the first land cruiser come out? WWII or just after maybe?

The Toyota Land Cruiser was introduced in 1951 as a copy of the Jeep and it took off in arid and unforgiving places like the Australian Outback. You will see a LOT of Land Cruisers out there compared to other types of Utes (Utility Vehicles) and there is a rich heritage.
That being said, I've seen my share of Land Cruisers, including some with a 350 chevy under the hood, around my neck of the woods.
