Hi, first thread, my friends daughter has an 01 Tacoma with the 2.7 four cylinder, we have replaced over ten coils in 3 years, we've gotten them through Ebay and Napa, no difference, anyone else seen this problem?

10 coils? Replace with the same aftermarket unit? Something is causing the coil to fail, any other electrical issues?

I've never heard of a Tacoma having a coil failure rate that high.
I have found there to be a much higher failure rate with off brand coils, for this reason I only buy Toyota OEM coils.
A little more expensive but worth the price.
Also I've found coils to fail if you have a bad ground or power connections.
Use a multi meter to check the ground and power harness for loose connectors and/or broken wires.
Check the ground point for a clean dry corrosion free connection.
I have had coils fail in less than 2 hours due to bad wiring/connections, it caused the coil to internally arc and overheat due to a short in the harness
