Easy answer is yes, you can.
But, if your a/c needs a recharge that means it has a leak, large or small, its leaking.
Any leak will introduce contaminants into the system, and simply recharging it without evacuating the system of contaminants, sealing the leak, and evacuating and refilling the system correctly will cause issues later.
Later repairs could be as simple as replacing the drier or as expensive as replacing the compressor and more.
