Engine block swap--22r to a 22re

I have a 89 Toyota PU. 22RE.
I have a person that has a 86 22r.
He is willing to sell me the running engine, and the 5 speed trans for $200.
He is scraping the truck anyway, but knows I need a motor.
Mine is an auto trans, but maybe I could sell the trans to pay for the motor.
Anyway, will the 86 22r,carburated, swap with my 22re fuel injected.

What I will do is swap all the parts and use his block.
My block needs rebuilt.I think I cracked a ring.
Have serious blowby into the dipstick tube, and 60lbs compression in #4 cylinder.
2 years ago I had to install new head-gasket since the lady that owned it blew it.
This will get my truck on the road fastest and then I can rebuild my regular engine.
I believe mine is a 2.4.Have to look online and see if the 22r is a 2.0, or 2.4.

The 22r and 22re motors are the same basic block, slight differences in the head, but not anything that should stop yor swap out.
The differences are made to acomodate the fuel injection system.

So I should be able to put all my parts including the EFI system on it without any problems then.

Yes, make sure you keep any engine mounted sensors from your present engine.

I've made that mistake before with trying to upgrade ignition at the same time of making an engine swap and I didn't get all of the electronics upgraded properly and it eventually because much more costly than if I had just kept the original ignition and fuel system.

$200 is a good deal imho, is the engine going to be pulled already for you or do you have to do that?

I am just using the bare block from 22r.Putting all my 22re stuff on it.
The engine and tranny will be pulled and ready for me to pick up.
Separately.
That way I can pick each one up and put them in my sons truck LOL.
But seriously, yes, they will be pulled, seperated, and waiting for me.

Well good deal on that then. When do you pick them up?

I have to call the guy and let him know I want them for sure. He is a long time friend of our family and gave me first dibbies.
I wanted to make sure I could use the block first.
I hope the distributor gears are the same from a standard to an efi.

Told him I would take it and he has to get back to me when he pulls it.
Cool beans. Hopefully that will work out for you. Like I said before, I've had hit-and-miss with used engines, but you never know.
