T-100 tail lights

I have a 1996 Toyota T-100 and my pass side tail light burned out. I replaced the bulb, but now the bulb only works when the brake is pressed. Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?

In other words, one bulb shines for both the taillights function and the brake light function. The taillight function does not work. Only the brake light works.

Does anyone know why this is happening, and possibly how to fix it?
