i have a 1981 Toyota pickup that I use for off roading I recently got a hole in the side of my engine block. Is there a way to repair that? There are no rods or Pistons hanging out. Should I buy a new engine block? Is it worth fixing? What kind of engine should I put in it? Thanks for the help guys!

What do you mean a hole in the side of the engine block? What engine is it?

Ive seen guys attempt this repair before.
First how did the damage happen, chunks of the block dont just fall out, most likely something inside let loose.
Ive see JB weld, soldiering, welding, and an outside patch.
None of them worked for long and in a few situations things got worse with the block developing cracks and failing worse.
Most of the repairs Ive seen like this were deep off road and only used to get the truck to the trail head and a trailer.
