Hey Steve,
So the unit I picked up was part ending in 35111 has a slightly larger plug and I guess the correct ignitor/coil part number ending in 35110 has a slightly smaller round body with a squared union rather then all round like the one I picked up. Seems the 81 has it's own part number the...
So I finally got around to picking up a OEM coil/ignitor unit but it seems like one plug is wrong. would it still work if I adapted it ? Seems the last part number on the ignitor is off, now what the heck did I get?
Shot of the front, I haven't got to washing that area yet but the whole passenger side of the truck faired really well, was always parked against tall bushes that guarded that side.
Drivers side not to well, just some minor dings and dents, also the dented/missing parking light on the rear...
Anything not made in china is good to me! You can also see the strands of nylon in the rubber when it was molded. Not to shabby at all considering it lasted so long.
Well I got to crawling into the bed and saw that the rust was only on the surface along the seam, poked around with a screw driver and we still have steel so I guess just one small rot. Should fix up easily when media blasted and primed.
I like using a painters brush to get all the dust 'n dirt...
There are 2 rust spots on the car, one under the battery tray against the wheel well on pass side then there is one in the bed right by the front corner of the dr side wells inside corner. Not big and that part may be getting cut for long travel suspension or I would just repair it. I'll snap...
Nope, I washed all the dirt/mud off and it seems like an aftermarket piece, It
The last photos was the same dirty side after I washed it, the bottom, dimpled side was pretty clean and did not need any washing. I think it was aftermarket cut to length.
I got to removing the rear bed mat and started cleaning 34 years of dust n dirt out.
washing the mat, I'll keep using her but I will remove the bad from the chassis next week.
I did a few more tests
I checked the resistance of the signal generator (pickup coil)
Then I went to test the coils secondary coil resistance
The the Primary Coil, maybe this is the problem? IDK I used it on 2 different settings and got 2 different numbers. Anybody shed some light or am I...
I was outside today testing the resistance of the coil and wires. I might need a new ignitor and th3 wiring attached to it. I found a guy about 50 miles away who I asked how much for the part from a '85 22R, I believe it;s the same part but stop me now if it isn't. I offered him $50 and some...
I'm still figuring out how to use it on the coils but found a write up I am going to go through the process tomorrow, I did find power going to the coil/ign but this meter is slightly a challenge for me since it;s been 15+ years since I used one.
Here is the wire hanging by a few threads
I...
So I finally found some time to pick up a multi-meter and soldering iron and some solider since I could not locate my other kit after moving, I just found out 50% of the Radio Shacks closed down in California!
So by the time I finally got to that wire connecting the distributor to the...
