Thanks for the comps on the site. I really haven't done a lot of work to promote the site, that's what's needed to get people here. Hopefully I will have time to get to that in the near future.

Hi,
I own a 1989 extended cab 4 x 4 pickup with a 5 speed. At 162,000 miles it is still going strong.

Shoot, at 162k you're just getting it broken in! :-)

Yeah -- it is an amazing vehicle. It has a 600 pound payload but I usually have a bulldozer dump over 2000 pounds of gravel in its bed at a local quarry, then I drive up a mountain to get back home. I use the gravel for my dog kennels. LOL. I bought it when it was 5 years old and had 56,000 miles on it, I had always owned Chevys and Fords before I bought that truck so I was just hoping it would last until the 4 year loan on it was paid off.

Yeah, it's built pretty tight so it can handle the extra payload pretty well, huh?
Well, you got your money's worth on it, that's for sure.

Not only have I got my money out of it, I had three people in the last year offer to buy it from me and I have never put it up for sale. One guy keeps bugging me about it. How many 16 year old vehicles with 162,000 miles are in demand like that? That speaks volume about the quality of Toyota products.
(I felt like a traitor when I bought my Xterra but so far I really like it.)

I'm sorry that it was down for so long people! Really, it's my bad. I work full time for a software company, and do this on the site. I have a co-worker today asked me about the Toyota Tundra, and I had to hang my head in shame that I'm not doing enough for these sites! :-(

Hi -- I have not dropped by in a while. My 1989 4 x 4 pickup is about to hit 167,000. I finally decided to have some work on it -- timing belt, spark plugs, new raditator, water pump, alternator, bumper, power antenna and some front end work. I think I'm set fr another 60,000. It runs like a freaking top although the body is in bad shape. The frame is fine. I also decided to put Mobil One oil and it really is worth the extra money. I've been using Dino oil all these years.
My 04 Xterra (37,000 miles) will not be paid off until June 2009 and then I'll have to decide if I want to have some body work on the Toyota or buy a new Tacoma. The new Tacomas are really nice but "vintage" Toyotas are cooler.

This is not a 10 year old thread, but it's pretty old. A lot has changed for me in the past five years, I'll tell you what.
